In this photograph, the first thing you see is the subject; a triangle shaped sign on a tall post. This subject takes up a hefty amount of space in the picture. I think it could possibly be a normal stop sign, but it is definitely a warning sign. The subject also emits a shadow behind it, showing the shape again. Once you start to look around this photo, you start to see more of the background become clear. To the left of the sign, you can see a house, a one floor house which seems to have an attic, and also a garden outside it just to the right of the main sign. The house is big, it is a detached house that is near the corner of the road shown in the picture. Next to the house you can see a very big tree, which is behind the caravan right in front of it. Behind all of that there is extra background which is out of focus. There is also another house behind the house next to the tree. You can't see much due to the trees that are next to it, leading off onto the right side of the photograph. Just behind the sign, from the photographs POV, there is a small barren area which is on lower ground to the house, yet is partly occupied by a caravan, which is right infront of the tree and is also detached. You can also see the pavement behind the sign, which leads up to the junction where the main road is. There is a bit of grass on the left side of the pavement, where the area with the caravan is. The pavement is cut off soon and gets split so that only 50% of the left side is there, then the pavement is gone. On the farthest right side of the photo, you can see the main road, which looks very isolated and empty, and there is also more background that can be seen without much detail, which includes more trees , more cars and some electricity posts of which its lines carry through the whole picture. Space is represented through different categories, but in different amounts. The main focus, the sign, takes up all of the foreground, leaving a lot of space for middle-ground and background. Considering the size of the sign, it is safe to say that there is very little foreground, that is in main focus. Moving to the middle-ground, this is the biggest section. Middle ground in this picture is represented by the likes of the house and the tree next it, the caravan behind it, all of the pavement and its nearby foliage, all of the trees that can be clearly seen next to the second house in front of the main house, and the car right by the road. The background is represented by the trees in the background, out of all focus and the scenery behind the main house, on the left side. The clouds on top of the sign could also be classed as background. The main things that are in focus are the really interesting parts. The houses, the trees that are closest to the houses, the caravan and car on the lead up to the main road, the pavement next to the main road, the clouds and the sign itself are basically all the items and objects that are in focus. The picture has been framed this way to add a bit of mystery to the picture and also the capture all the things that make the 'composition' of the objects like perfect. The most interesting part of the photo for me is the area behind the sign as it doesn't show anything useful to add to the image. It adds a bit of a puzzle as no one can actually know what is behind unless you were there. It also makes you think about why that area is there or if anything is near, of if it's just empty. I would only ask the artist why they would take this picture in such a specific location and what the meaning behind this photo is and if there is any context. I think it would be very boring but calm and quiet to live in this photograph. Seeing the surrounding area and background of this picture, it looks very dull. Places like this are not really my type, but it's all down to personal preference. I suppose the artist had taken this photograph because of all the opportunities in this picture, i.e making the clouds on top of the sign look like an ice cream. I think that the most effective part of this photograph is definitely the way the artist used the camera to get a good angle and perspective of the scenery. The artist had clearly seen that the sign and clouds look like a ice cream and found a way to take the picture with good and effective techniques.
